Aviation

Aviation includes the activities surrounding mechanical flight and the aircraft industry. Aircraft includes fixed-wing and rotary-wing types, morphable wings, wing-less lifting bodies, as well as lighter-than-air craft such as hot air balloons and airships.

Mechanical engineers play an important role in the automotive, aerospace, biotechnology, computer and electronics, automation, and manufacturing industries. They design, develop, build, and test all sorts of mechanical devices, tools, engines and machines.

Mechanical engineers are able to design and manufacture everything from small parts like miniature connectors, to large machine tools like drill presses. They take a product from start to finish, and design for aesthetics, functionality, and durability.

Examples of products that mechanical engineers can design and develop are: transmissions; engine parts; aircraft engines; control systems; prosthetic devices; disk drives; printers; semiconductor tools; sensors; gas turbines; wind turbines; fuel cells; compressors; robots; and machine tools.

The fuel system consists of the fuel tank, pump, filter, and injection nozzles or carburetor and is responsible for supplying fuel to the engine as needed. Every component must function properly in order to achieve the expected vehicle performance and reliability.

The function of the fuel system is to store fuel and deliver it to the cylinder chamber where it can be mixed with air, vaporized, and burned to produce power. The fuel, which can be either gasoline or diesel, is stored in a fuel tank. A fuel pump draws fuel from the tank through fuel lines and pumps it through a fuel filter to either a carburetor or fuel injector and then into the cylinder chamber for combustion.

An original equipment manufacturer (OEM) traditionally is defined as a company whose goods are used as components in the products of another company, which then sells the finished item to users.

The second firm is referred to as a value-added reseller (VAR) because by augmenting or incorporating features or services, it adds value to the original item. The VAR works closely with the OEM, which often customizes designs based on the VAR company's needs and specifications.

1) Sets up and operates machine to compress granulated or powdered ingredients into products, such as medicinal tablets and storage battery pellets: Installs dies in machine and adjusts spring tension and ram pressure of air- or hydraulic-powered press, according to specifications, using handtools.

2) Presses control button to activate machine.

3) Scoops ingredients into hopper or positions canister of powder on top of hopper, using overhead lift.
